Pendragon PLC is the largest independent operator of franchised motor car dealerships in the UK, operating nearly 400 franchises. They also operate motor car dealerships from 9 locations in California, USA. and 5 in Germany. The UK is their principal market, which accounts for 95% of the Group's revenues. Pendragon sells a broad range of makes of motor cars and commercial vehicles, has a substantial presence in the UK vehicle leasing, wholesale parts and dealer management software markets.
Pendragon became a public limited company when the vehicle division of Williams PLC was de-merged in 1989, at that time operating 19 car dealerships, representing specialist and luxury franchises, in addition to a small contract hire business. Since then they have enhanced their portfolio and expanded considerably through a series of new builds and acquisitions and now represent over 30 brands operating out of nearly 400 outlets in the UK, Germany and the USA.
Covering both specialist and volume brands their largest representation is with Ford where we have nearly 60 dealerships, this is closely followed by Vauxhall where they are the largest retailer in the UK. Their specialist marques range from Maserati to Mercedes-Benz, are the UK importer for Cadillac and the largest franchised dealer for Harley Davidson outside of the USA.
Today their ethos focuses on bigger relationships with fewer manufacturers and they have established a solid business platform from which to move the Group forward. The future will see them consolidating and remaining at the forefront of their industry

The motor car businesses operate under the brands of Stratstone for luxury vehicles and Evans Halshaw representing the volume brands. Chatfields is the commercial van and truck business, selling and servicing vehicles within a range of commercial vehicle brands from 21 locations in the UK. They also operate motor car businesses in Germany and the USA.
Pendragon has a large contract hire business in the UK, operating under the brands of Pendragon Contracts, Bramall Contracts and Vardy Contract Motoring. They also have a substantial presence in the UK wholesale parts sales & distribution with the Quickco business. The software solutions business, Pinewood, provides software & services to dealers and fleet operators.
